engineering company missouri

Schultz & Summers Engineering employees a staff of more than 50 of the brightest engineers in the Midwest.
Here is a partial list of our team members.

Stanley Schultz, P.E., R.L.S. - Principal

It takes drive, ambition, energy, and confidence to start your own company, but to do it when you're 29 takes all those qualities plus vision. Our company founder has been blessed with all the qualities it takes to lead a company, but his vision is what started Schultz and Summers in 1997 and it is what keeps driving Schultz and Summers Engineering forward today.

As a young engineer Stan saw that Southeast Missouri needed an engineering company that valued service to its customers' first. His dream was to form a company that met customer’s needs while still providing a quality work environment for his employees and their families.

That dream has taken SSE from a small rented farm house with one employee serving local clients around Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to a multi office company helping hundreds of clients in several different states.

Stan grew up in Doniphan, Missouri, the son of a postman. His father wanted more for his son and he encouraged Stan to become an engineer. Stan attended the University of Missouri at Rolla and received his B. S. in Civil Engineering degree in 1990. Soon after that he started work at the Rogers Group in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where he learned estimating, scheduling, and construction layout techniques. He also worked for Law Engineering in Nashville, Tennessee and David B. Smith and Associates in Clarksville, Tennessee, respectively and gained a keen understanding of construction materials testing, civil design, and land surveying. Next, he spent three years working for a small Missouri surveying firm and a utility contractor in Missouri and Arkansas.

Working for a few different companies on a range of projects allowed Stan to gain valuable knowledge and experience in a variety of different areas. Those first few jobs sparked the desire to start his own company where he could help customers provide Missourians with clean drinking water and sanitary sewer services.
The phenomenal growth during the early years of SSE history resulted in SSE being recognized by Inc. 500 as one of the fastest growing private companies in America in 2003. Most of the early growth was right in the Southeast Missouri region. After 2003 SSE continued to expand. First, into other areas of Missouri and then into other states such as Kansas, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, and most recently Louisiana.

When asked what he attributed the rapid expansion to, he stated, “Word of mouth. Each year I am surprised by the people who contact me about helping them with a project after talking to one of our current clients.” He continued, “Customer service is still our #1 priority. We have quality employees and all our employees work hard to make sure we take care of the customers’ needs. I believe that is why our business keeps expanding."

Some of the major projects that Stan has supervised include:

• Formation of the Pike Creek Sewer District and subsequent $6 million bond issue. Today, Pike Creek boasts about 1,300 customers and continues to expand its service area.
• Route 67 Design Surveys – After the City of Poplar Bluff stepped up with almost $60 million of matching funding to entice MoDOT to complete the four-lane expansion of this important route, SSE won one of two contracts to survey over 20 miles of the proposed corridor in 4 months.
• Gravois Arm Sewer District – Formed in August 2002, the Gravois District successfully passed $30 million of revenue bonds and has secured millions of dollars of matching funds from state and federal agencies.
• PWSD #4 of Wayne and Butler County – SSE staff promoted the successful passage of a $5 million bond issue and then designed and inspected the expansion project that included two water wells, two elevated storage tanks, and about 60 miles of water mains to serve 700+ customers.

Stan and his wife Kathy have five children three of which are triplets, Patrick 12, Michael 7, Samantha 6, Allison 6, and Brooklyn 6. While having five children can be challenging at times they feel blessed to have such a wonderful family. Stan and Kathy are also partners in KC’s on the Current, a canoe outfitting company on Current River. On most summer weekends the whole family gets involved with renting canoes and tubes to hot tourists wanting to cool off in one of the clearest spring fed rivers of Missouri.

Stan is an avid sports fan. He follows the St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball team on the radio and also watches NASCAR racing. When time allows after mass on Sundays you can find him taking a short break in his busy work and family life to root for Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.

Kathy and Stan regularly attend St. Benedicts Catholic Church where he attended as a boy. Besides their church, they support several charities including Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital; the institution credited with saving four-day old one-pound Brooklyn’s life after she developed a hole in her intestine.
Stan has been honored by his Alma matter with the Young Alumnus award and has been named an Honor Member of UMR’s Chi Epsilon.

Bob Summers

Bob Summers, P.E. - Principal

Bob is a Poplar Bluff native who always had a desire to enter the engineering field. After graduating from PBHS in 1996 he attended Georgia Tech University and in four short years obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering. With his degree in hand, he joined what was at that time (SES) Schultz Engineering Services in 2000 and made an immediate and positive impact on the company. He worked on a variety of projects in all facets of civil engineering. From day one, it was clear that he had an eye for detail and gift for design work. Bob quickly became the go to guy when anyone had a question about design on a sewer, water, road or subdivision project.

Over the last ten years, SSE has rapidly grown and expanded its operations. Bob was and is a big reason for that success. His ability to take ideas and quickly turn them into plans and finished projects made the services provided by SES very sought after. In 2007, Bob was made a partner in the firm and the name was changed to Schultz and Summers Engineering.

Bob not only heads up all the design efforts of SSE, but as a partner he administers the Poplar Bluff office and all financial, personnel and management issues for the company as a whole. SSE has received numerous awards for the design work Bob has been a part of over the last ten years. He is the person in our company who ensures all our different divisions and branch offices are working together and coordinated.

A few of the biggest projects Bob has been a part of include:

• City of Ironton, MO – Surface Water Treatment Plant
• City of Haiti, MO – Iron and Manganese Removal Plant
• Gravois Arm Sewer District- Counter Current Wastewater Treatment Plant
• City of Gideon, MO – Complete Water Distribution System Replacement
• John Q. Hammonds- Chateau on the Lake Site Design
• USACE- Clearwater Dam Rehabilitation Site Design

Bob takes great pride in his work and when asked what he likes most about engineering Bob said, “Helping solve problems. It’s a good feeling when we help a community provide water or sewer services to their residents. Helping develop a plan, obtain funding, design the system and get it built is always a satisfying experience.”

He is active in the Poplar Bluff community and is an Executive Board Member of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce. Faith is an important part of Bob’s life and he is a trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff. He is a huge supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout the day he turned 14.

Taking care of the environment and being a good steward of the earth’s natural resources are also important to Bob. He helped start and still serves as a board member on the Poplar Bluff Recycling Committee. He has put the lessons he learned as a Boy Scout and the instruction he received as a young engineering student on how to take care of our environment to practice not only in his engineering work but also in his volunteer work in the community.

Bob is married to Emily and together they are raising two active boys, Law 4 and Tucker 1. He spends his free time on his cattle farm and also enjoys hunting, sailing and traveling. Recently SSE purchased a plane which has inspired Bob to pursue his love of flying by obtaining his pilots licenses.

Sammi Croy - Accounting

All successful companies have a good accounting department and at SSE we are thankful to have Mrs. Croy heading up this area for us. Before joining SSE Sammi worked as a procurement clerk for the USACE at Wappapello Lake this background made her a perfect fit for SSE. Sammi also has experience as a contractor associate for Home Depot where she primarily worked with contractors putting together building lists and estimating material needs for their projects.

Sammi joined SSE in 1998 shortly after the company was founded. She started as an administrative assistant to Stan Schultz and also served as the Office Manager for East Butler County Sewer District. This early training helped her understand all the services that SSE offers. Rarely will you find a company of our size that has someone heading up the accounting division who understand all the details of the services provided and costs associated with those services.

Sammi has been a key part of the rapid growth SSE has experienced over the years. From our first location in an abandoned farm house to our four branch offices providing engineering services in eight different states, Sammi has been there through it all.
She knows who our customers are and she understands their needs. She constantly helps clients with a whole lot more than accounting questions. Jim Burtin, P.E. - Business Development

Jim was born in a log cabin on the Niangua River, which makes him an authentic Ozarkian. He was reared in Lebanon, Missouri and received a BSME from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (Missouri University of Science & Technology.)

While attending college, Jim quickly earned the respect of his fellow students when he was elected President his fraternity for two consecutive years. He became one of the most sought after Mechanical Engineers in his graduating class of 1962 and settled on a job with Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This high-tech company supplied electronic equipment to world airlines, military clients and the American space program. Jim worked on radios for Voice of America and associated with other engineers working on the newest electronic innovations such as computers, the transmission of voices from space, weapons guidance systems and global positioning.

But it was hard to get the Ozarks out of his blood so he returned to Lebanon to become Chief Engineer for Detroit Tool and Engineering, the company his father had worked for as toolmaker and designer. He eventually became a Vice President and managed True-Gunall Division and later Garden Maid Tiller Division.

In 1982, Jim was offered the position of General Manager North America for an English lawnmower division of the Swedish conglomerate AB Electrolux. That meant a move to Seattle, WA. After a year of extensive travel setting up the new operation and before his family could join him, the office was moved to Ohio with talk that he would probably be there for a year or two before moving to Kentucky.

Quality of life for himself and his family has always been important to Jim so the decision was made to leave Flymo and purchase a small manufacturer of photographic equipment in Conway, Missouri. After five successful years the doors closed due to various events. Jim began consulting work for several companies he had been associated with over the years, but constantly living out of a suitcase had never been his choice of lifestyles.

Through a contact from his years at Collins Radio, he was sought to establish a Test Equipment Group in the Commercial Division of the company, which had now become part of the global firm of Rockwell International. It was Jim’s ability to listen to customers, encourage cooperation and to reach consensus, combined with his technical training that secured the position. By then his three children had all started college, so the return to Cedar Rapids was accepted. Despite the adverse effect of 9-11 on the airline industry and a total reorganization of the company that separated Rockwell Collins from Rockwell International, Jim was retained for 14 years until his retirement in 2005.

Jim and his wife of 40+ years Margi returned again to Jim’s native soil when they retired to the Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks. Jim was soon elected to the Camelot Estates Board and became acquainted with Stan Schultz through the Camelot Sewer project. Stan recognized Jim’s skills in presenting a calm and cooperative approach to the many inherited problems associated with the project and convinced him to work at least part-time for SSE.

Since joining SSE in 2006 in the capacity of Business Development, Jim has helped nurture new projects for the firm:

He also serves as SSE liaison with the following:
• Camelot Sewer District
• Gravois Arm Sewer District
• Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Association (LOWA)

Jim’s engineering degree and wide business experience are valuable to SSE but it is his other experiences that bring the most value to the client - six years on City Council in Lebanon, supervision of construction of his fraternity house in college, a 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Wabash Indiana, his church in Lebanon and three of his own homes. This has given him the ability to envision the problems faced by the recipient of any project – the client. His patience and understanding can smooth over many situations before they become insurmountable problems.

Grady Robinett, L.S.I.T.

Good Civil engineering firms need quality surveyors if they want to provide the best quality service possible to their clients. Here at Schultz and Summers we have been blessed with one of the best surveyors possible in Grady Robinett. He has been with SSE since March, 1998 and recently was promoted to head of our surveying division. Grady was our first full-time surveyor, and has worked on almost every project that SSE has undertaken. This experience on a variety of projects is what makes him so valuable to our customers.

Grady has surveyed on some of the biggest highways in Missouri including, 67, 60, 13, 5 and numerous smaller state, county and city roads. He also blazed the trail for power and gas lines all through Missouri and Arkansas. Grady has spent considerable time in Louisiana surveying for some of the biggest construction contractors in America in their work on the USACE levees around New Orleans and he has spent countless hours in Missouri woods surveying property boundaries and laying out subdivisions.

Grady graduated from Doniphan High School in 1994 and went on to earn an AAS degree in Civil and Construction Tech from Three Rivers Community College in 1997. Prior to joining SSE Grady worked for Associated Engineering in Jonesboro, Arkansas where he first became interested in surveying and the civil engineering field. Grady said, “One of the things I like about surveying is looking at the old land records and researching all the property lines and section boundaries. Anytime I do a survey I want to know exactly what has been done in that area before so that I can be 100% accurate for the customer.” On June 9, 2010 he achieved the title of Licensed Surveyor in Training (LSIT) and he will be able to sit for the PLS in 2014.

Spending time with family, hunting, and fishing are Grady's favorite activities. He has been married to Tammy (a former SSE employee) for 11 years and has two children, Grady Jr., 6, and Emma, 3.

The most famous person Grady ever met was Tuff Hedemen, World Champion Bull Rider and co-founder of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). He closely follows the St. Louis Cardinals, and his favorite NASCAR drivers are Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mark Martin.

Faith is very important to Grady. He attends Fairview General Baptist Church and when he has the extra funds he is a big believer in St. Jude Children's Hospital, and American Cancer Society.

Soon after that he went back to the district level as a District engineer and was responsible for all engineering activities in the Willow Springs district. After six years as District Engineer in district 9 he was brought back to Jefferson City as the State Bridge Engineer. His finial position was as the Assist to the Chief Engineer with responsibilities over Planning, Right-of-Way, Design and Bridges.
SSE was thankful that Frank decided to join their company after he retired. The credibility and experience that SSE brought to the table on road construction projects was immediately felt. Frank’s background enabled SSE to put their surveying, materials testing and design services to good use on several road projects in Missouri.

SSE has worked on several major cities, county and state highway projects since Frank joined the team. Some of the key projects include, Shelby road in Poplar Bluff, safe and sound program, 800 bridge project, I-55 in Pemiscot County, Highway 67 and 60 four lane, and numerous county road and bridge projects.

Frank is a young 77 and we feel fortunate to have him on the job and helping serve our customers every day. He is married to Jane Carroll and they have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

He is active in First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff and in his spare time he likes to fish and spend time with his grandchildren.
The rapid growth and success that SSE has enjoyed is because experienced engineers like Frank Carroll have chosen to help our company provide a top quality service to our customers.

Bradley D. Allbritton, E.I.T., L.S.I.T. - Branson Office Manager

Brad is one of the best young energetic engineers that have joined the Schultz and Summers Engineering team in recent years. With the rapid growth of our company the need for knowledgeable engineers has grown and Brad Allbritton is a rising star within SSE.

He started working at SSE right after high school and before he went to engineering school at Arkansas State University. Those two years gave him valuable hands on experience with materials testing, surveying, drafting, and easement acquisition. Working at SSE gave him the desire and motivation to pursue an engineering degree and make civil engineering his profession.

Brad’s experience gained at SSE helped him graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Arkansas State University. While in Arkansas, Brad worked for Mobley Contractors and Edwards Engineering where he gained more practical engineering experience constructing roads and working on residential and commercial development projects.
After college, Brad joined the Parsons Corporation in South Carolina at the Savannah River Site working to construct a nuclear waste processing facility. In his position with Parsons Corporation he worked with the Department of Energy and developed a better understanding of what it is like to work with a large government organization.

While Brad enjoyed his early engineering work experience his real goal was to rejoin the SSE team in Missouri. He found he missed the fast pace working environment that SSE provided and he liked the challenges and opportunity a larger engineering company provides.

In 2009 SSE-MESA brought Brad back to be the managing engineer for the Branson office. They knew his tireless work ethic and take charge attitude was exactly the kind of person they needed heading up the Branson office. They were looking for someone who could work with private developers, contractors, local government officials, Missouri Department of Transportation, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers. His background of working with the Department of Energy, Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, private developers, and contractors made him the perfect fit.

Brad is married to Jamie Allbritton and they were recently blessed with a new baby girl, Abigail Reese in June. Brad is involved in the local Chamber of Commerce and Business Network International. He attends church and enjoys reading, hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.

Rodney Jetton - Marketing Director

Schultz and Summers was extremely pleased to have Rodney Jetton, a former Speaker of the Missouri House, join the company in early 2010. Not only does he bring a wealth of friendships, marketing experience, sales know how, and public relations expertise to SSE, but he also has a strong business and management background.

Long before he became Speaker, Jetton developed the understanding and ability to organize and manage people. He learned discipline, hard work and key organizational skills through his time as a young officer in the US Marine Corps. Additionally, Jetton served as a company commander in the Marines, which taught him how to manage both personnel and resources in challenging circumstances.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Jetton returned to Missouri where he started a successful real estate company and was elected to the Bollinger County Commission. At the age of 28, he had become the youngest commissioner in the state at that time. Running a small business and serving as a local elected official has helped Rodney understand and serve our customers better. SSE helps counties, small cities and small business all across rural Missouri. Rodney’s experience has made him the perfect fit to help Schultz and Summers understand and meet their clients’ needs.

His election as a state representative and meteoric rise to become the youngest Speaker in state history has been well documented in the statewide media. He is the last speaker to serve more than two years since Speaker Gaw and the only one to serve more than one term since term limits were imposed. His knowledge of the state and the issues that citizens are concerned with has been invaluable to Schultz and Summers Engineering. Also, his friendships, connections and acquaintances with government workers, business leaders and elected officials have opened doors and allowed SSE to grow into new and exciting markets.

One of the top issues Rodney focused on while in the legislature was investing in our state’s infrastructure. He supported initiatives to increase funding for building Missouri’s road, bridge, sewer, and water improvements. He was also a key leader in the effort to streamline the process for bringing electric power, natural gas, and internet broadband services to all Missouri citizens.

As the SSE marketing director, he has helped our company better communicate the quality of our services, to both current customers and potential prospects. This marketing program has been appreciated by our customers because it clearly communicates the many services we offer, as well as the quality that SSE consistently provides. It has allowed us to show our customers the various types of civil engineering services that SSE can provide, which includes road, water, and wastewater design, as well as surveying, materials testing, commercial site development, subdivision layout and a whole host of other services.

Rod’s experience has helped SSE successfully meet and close business with some of the largest contracting companies in the world, which include Tetra Tech, Archer Western Contractors, and Odebrecht Construction, to name just a few. Additionally, he has been just as effective in dealing with local elected officials and citizens about their sewer or water needs in rural Missouri. His ability to quickly identify the needs of the customer and honestly assess how Schultz and Summers Engineering can meet those needs has been appreciated by all our customers and is resulting in an expanding book of business for our company.

When asked why he chose to join SSE Jetton stated, “Helping improve the quality of life for Americans starts with building the infrastructure necessary to supply them with water, sewer, power and communications.” He continued, “Schultz and Summers Engineering has a proven track record for doing quality work and helping those who often have no one else to help them. Danny Roeger - E.I.T.

Danny was brought on just after graduating in the winter class of 2010 from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  He immediately passed his Engineer in Training exam and his goal is to work on engineering projects at Schultz and Summers Engineering until he is eligible to obtain his Professional Engineering License in 2014.

Rarely do young professionals have the opportunity to return to their hometowns for work.  Danny reports that he is excited to begin his professional career in his hometown at Lake of the Ozarks.  Growing up in the lake region will give him a better understanding of the engineering issues affecting that area and his familiarity with the communities he will be serving will better help him meet their needs.  Taking an interest in the lake area and working to improve the economy and lives of its citizens comes naturally to Danny.  His family is successful small business owners and they have a long history of being actively involved in the lake’s social and economic development.

Prior to employment with SSE, he gained experience through two internships over the summer months with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) construction.  His responsibilities included inspection work along the Osage Beach Expressway and one-way corridors through the heart of Osage Beach.  Danny was a construction inspector and responsible for ensuring the thousands of cubic yards of concrete that were pored as well as the miles of asphalt laid on the Hwy. 5 and 54 expressways met MoDOT plans and specifications.

Here at SSE we put all the new young engineers through a detailed orientation program that not only teaches them about all the different services Schultz and Summers offers but also gives them hands on training in the basics of civil engineering.  We find it is a great way to provide practical application to what they learned in the classroom in engineering school.  Danny has been one of our fastest learners and quickly marched through the orientation program.  He was sent down to New Orleans, where he learned the basics in materials testing.  He easily passed his HAZMAT, Troxler Nuclear Density Gauge, and American Concrete Institution (ACI) certifications and was qualified to test both soil density and concrete in the field.

He then was brought back to the lake where he was sent to the field to learn the basics in surveying.  He learned how to use the newest surveying technology by learning how to do static and RTK observations using modern GPS equipment.   This experience has been important as he helps on some of the preliminary engineering work for the Rocky Mount and Gravois Mills Sewer Districts.  Currently Danny has been supervising the FEMA flood surveying program at the Lake.  With his help they completed 650 elevation certificates that have saved thousands of dollars in flood insurance premiums for lake property owners.

Danny enjoys sports and played baseball in college and now is the star on his local softball team.  Once he played golf with Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer Walter White and he feels strongly about protecting the water quality at the Lake.  He is a volunteer for Ameren’s Shoreline Cleanup project and he attends Calvary Chapel Church.

Sheila Walker - Business Development Director, New Orleans Area

Sheila Walker has been named the Business Development Director for the New Orleans area.  She will focus her efforts on expanding their services into the private sector as well as continuing to pursue government projects with the USACE.  SSE Marketing Director Rodney Jetton added, “Shelia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Having her help us showcase our engineering and surveying services to local government officials, contractors, and homeowners in the New Orleans area will be a tremendous benefit to our company and this region.”

Although Sheila is a Missouri native, she cut her teeth in one of the toughest markets in the world, the New York City fashion industry.  With a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis Missouri, and a master’s degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Sheila used her ambition to build several businesses including her New York City based “Sheila Walker Studio”, a garment manufacturing facility. She was also the creative director at “She She New York” swimwear, and taught fashion design at the world famous Parsons School of Design. Sheila’s creative marketing talents landed her a position hosting a children’s craft show for NBC Universal, and she designed costumes for Off Broadway productions. As a recognized media personality, Sheila hosted a segment on HGTV’s home improvement show “Look What I Did”, and was a regular judge on the popular TV program “Project Runway”. Her impressive print media exposure spans from Sports Illustrated to the New York Times.  During her most recent venture of marketing a luxury golf community in Branson, Missouri is where she met the Schultz and Summers team. She orchestrated their annual “Shrimp Boil”, an event designed to entertain over 300 new and existing clients.

Schultz and Summers client, Jim Gardner, of Archer Western & Walsh Construction is thrilled to see Sheila Walker take this role in the New Orleans market. “It’s refreshing to see a traditional civil engineering firm like Schultz and Summers take an innovative approach to developing new business. I think they have the right idea by bringing Sheila on as part of their team.”

While SSE has developed a solid reputation as one of the best materials testing companies in New Orleans, they are working hard to expand their services to local city governments, parish governments, contractors, and homeowners.  Stan Schultz, SSE owner says, “Adding a person with Sheila’s credentials to our New Orleans staff has been a goal of the firm for several months. She is a true professional and her ability to network with community leaders will be a huge boost to our efforts.  Her presence will give us a more visible role in the New Orleans area.”
While SSE Operations Manager Thomas Hudson, will continue to supervise the Construction Material Testing and Surveying operations at the New Orleans office. He is excited about having Sheila on board to help expand into other markets. “Her ability to assist us in communicating the dependable service we offer to our customers and prospects will help us grow our market share.  Once customers experience the quality of our work they stay with us and Sheila’s expertise will give us an opportunity to show more clients how we can help them reach their goals,” said Hudson.

Tony Cavell - Surveyor, P.L.S.

J. Anthony “Tony” Cavell joins Schultz and Summers Engineering as a Professional Land Surveyor in the Louisiana office. His prolific career has spanned over four decades.  He attributes his deep curiosity about the “workings of almost everything” as his driving force for learning as well as teaching.  Tony’s fascination with surveying reaches back to his grandfather who was a professional surveyor & engineer. With an insatiable thirst for history, it was only natural for Tony to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps.

Tony was born and reared in Lafayette, Louisiana. He and his wife, Gloria, have a family of four children. However, his surveying experience began in New Orleans, among the sights and sounds of the historically rich environment of the city.  The rest of his career has been as colorful and flavorful as New Orleans itself. His love for Physics led him to work at Louisiana State University, where he operated the helium liquefaction system and, in the Petroleum Engineering Department, building models and lecture demonstration devices.

Tony has worked in the construction field: aligning sewers, roadway centerlines, fitting slabs to topos. His other experiences range from traditional boundary surveys to setting flood elevation benchmarks, from logging pile driving to levee topos and 3-D surveys for condominium conversions.  It was in New Orleans that Tony was introduced to the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors (LSPS), which has been a major influence in his career.

In 1993, Tony joined Navigation Electronics, Inc (NEI) as Vice President and served as CEO from 2000-2002. He was a member of the original class of Trimble Certified Trainers and has enjoyed giving seminars and presentations across the country and as far afield as Saudi Arabia; creating the Cavell 1995 RSO projection. He managed ESP Associates’ QA for FEMA’s LiDAR surveys of Louisiana and GPS and LASER scanning surveys for SAM, Inc. in Texas.

As a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor and Certified Federal Surveyor, Tony has a passion for providing individual, business and government consulting services.  He is also a Fellow of
ACSM & NSPS, specializing in work related to GPS/GNSS, Geodesy, Property/Boundary and Historical surveying. Tony is a sought after public speaker and seminar presenter, as well as writer, blogger and continuing education teacher on a wide range of topics.

Tony is a contributing author at “The American Surveyor” addressing historical, technical, professional, business and educational aspects of surveying. Marc Cheves, LS of “The American Surveyor” says “Not only has Tony written excellent educational articles for “The American Surveyor”, his reputation within the national surveying community is stellar.” Tony brings an eclectic background from Physics to Petroleum Engineering from construction to offshore surveying. He experienced the changes of technology from conventional optical equipment through microwave and acoustic positioning to the age of satellite positioning and LASER scanning. Tony has been a long time active member of LSPS, NSPS & ACSM.

Tony holds numerous licenses and certificates that qualify him as a master surveyor including Certified Federal Surveyor, Certified PDH Provider and Professional Land Surveyor. He specializes in Geodesy, Historical research and GPS/GNSS. When he’s not out in the field surveying or writing, Tony enjoys spending his time with his wife and five grandchildren.
